New Windows-Based Tablet PC For Casino Gaming Applications

X2 Computing, a leading provider of mobile computing solutions for the casino sector, is launching the X2 Sapphire tablet computer at the Global Gaming Expo starting in Las Vegas on 2nd October.  It is compatible with all Windows operating systems, including the forthcoming Windows 8, enabling operators to run slots on the device without needing to rewrite existing applications or manage multiple versions of software.  X2 Sapphire will also allow players to join in on roulette and blackjack tables as well as enabling gaming to continue away from the casino floor.

According to Francis Davis, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at X2 Computing:  “X2 Sapphire will enable casinos to easily adopt the new generation of tablet computers for a wide range of gaming and hospitality applications to increase both productivity and revenues.  It will be fully supported for five years and deliver a low total cost of ownership.”

X2 Sapphire is powered by an Intel Atom N2600 1.6GHz processor with 2GB DDR3 SDRAM and 32GB SSD storage giving up to 6 hours operation between recharging.  It is IP54 rated and has a 9.7” widescreen capacitive touchscreen with a fingerprint resistant oleophobic coating.  The integrated graphics processor delivers high quality images at up to 1024 x 768 resolution in either landscape or portrait formats.  Of particular importance to the casino sector is that the device cannot be turned on or off by users and can be specified without external ports to eliminate the possibility of interference.

With dimensions of 267 x 210 x 22mm including corner protectors, X2 Sapphire weighs 979g.  Accessories include a desktop docking cradle with in-built USB ports, POS mounting bracket, carry case and rear mounting hand grip.   X2 also provides a range of custom charging solutions including PowerCRATE which simultaneously charges up to 25 devices.
