Portsmouth City Council is adding school safety to the range of enforcement applications running on its hosted Digital Video Platform. The council has started by deploying the Videalert system outside schools where illegal parking on keep clears has been identified as putting children’s lives in danger. The cameras are being installed after a survey of parents, teachers and school governors showed an overwhelming 84% support for this initiative. Read more

Newpark Solutions has been awarded a major contract to install the latest Fusion ticketless pay-on-foot parking system at over 40 woods and forests across the UK managed by the Forestry Commission.  The company won the open tender for a formal framework agreement, one of the largest over the last few years, in the face of strong competition from established suppliers of traditional parking solutions.  The first two installations have already been completed to handle over 1000 car parking spaces situated at Alice Holt, a Royal forest in Hampshire, and Moors Valley Country Park in Dorset.

L&R Roadlines, one of the UK’s leading road marking and surfacing contractors, provided new track markings at CarFest North, which took place at Bolesworth, Cheshire on 29-31st July.  This annual event was founded in 2012 by presenter Chris Evans to support BBC Children In Need and features a mixture of cars, food, drink and live music.  To date, it has been attended by more than 337,000 visitors raising over £6 million. The London Borough of Bexley is installing automated enforcement systems from Videalert to capture moving traffic contravention at several key locations.  The fixed/redeployable cameras will supplement the council’s existing fleet of CCTV cars and enable enforcement to be extended to improve driver compliance.
