Jointline Expands Highways Maintenance Fleet With Three New Vehicles From Somerford Equipment
Jointline Limited, a leading provider of road markings, airfield markings and high friction coloured surfacing solutions, has expanded its highways maintenance fleet with the addition of three new vehicles from Somerford Equipment. The new vehicles will enhance the company’s ability to provide on-time delivery of highway marking services to clients across the UK.
According to Garry Thomas, Jointline’s Northern Division Transport Manager: “With proven performance and reliability, the latest Somerford vehicles to be added to our fleet will help maintain our reputation for excellent on-time service delivery. The vehicles enhance workforce productivity by helping us to do more in less time whilst reducing downtime and maintenance costs. These fuel, labour, cost and environmental savings are passed on directly to our customers.”
Jointline has added a road stud/screed vehicle equipped with triple boilers that enable a single multi-skilled crew to complete works containing both road stud and thermoplastic requirements without the need for additional resource. The vehicle is currently one of just three machines in the country that uses an innovative moving transverse head to install studs without having to drive on newly laid, soft asphalt and is capable of installing over 400 embedded studs in a single shift. Also featured is an on-board debris suction system for removal of road surface filings from the stud installation process.
The second vehicle is a Somerford MultiMark which is fully equipped for the application of pressurised thermoplastic sprayplastic, extrusion and profiled road marking materials. Built on a DAF 14 ton chassis, it features a sprayplastic applicator which allows single or multiple line application at 5-16kph in widths of 5-50cm. The vehicle has already been set to work laying lines on over 29,000 metres of carriageway within Area 12 following a major resurfacing programme.
A new purpose-built 26 tonne supply feeder vehicle, with extensive underbody storage and onboard thermoplastic preheaters, has also entered service with Jointline to provide a constant flow of road marking materials to the application vehicles.
The vehicles are all equipped with the latest LED night lights, traffic control arrows unit and Chapter 8 compliant high-visibility markings to enhance safety for crews and road users alike. The new Euro-6 vehicles also comply with the latest safety and working practices and are fully compliant with stringent Type Approval legislation. In addition, with railings around the vehicles in all operator accessible areas, they meet Safe Working-at-Height requirements.
